Getting to Know Me

Ok, time for some background. I know every writer is screaming, “You can’t simply describe the characters, you have to show the reader what the characters look like!”
Don’t worry, insanely critical wanna-be writers, I’ll start with a story that my parents love to tell about me every time they bring up my childhood. It goes like this: When I was about two years old, my family went to the library. It was just my parents, my older sister, and I. As we walked through the library, I decided that I no longer needed clothes and, right then and there, stripped down to my diaper and took off running. I’m told I was hilarious and couldn't stop laughing until they caught me. Yay for embarrassing family stories!
Now that I’ve given you a story, you can handle taking a few facts about my life. We should really get to know each other. So go grab a cup of coffee (or tea if you’re British) and please enjoy.
1.       You’ve already seen that I’m the second child, and that means I’m probably a bit of a rebel. (Who needs clothes in a library anyways?) But you should also know that I’m the second oldest of eight children. First I would like to say that we are not the Duggars. Yes, we have the same parents. No, we aren’t Mormons. Yes, we’ve all been home schooled at one point in time. And no, we aren’t completely socially awkward (well, my sister might think that’s debatable when it comes to me).
2.       I love to read. Give me a Harry Potter book over a Kardashian TV marathon any day. I can spend weeks reading one particular series if it’s well-written. Some of my favorite writers are J. K. Rowling, Francine Rivers, Thomas Harris, George RR Martin, the Bronte sisters, Edgar Allan Poe, and Agatha Christie. I love a good mystery or thriller. I love how reading takes you to new places and changes who you are; all you have to do is pay attention.
3.       I love kayaking, hiking, biking, and going on long walks at the beach (just kidding, I prefer the woods and mountains). But seriously, God’s creation is so freaking beautiful. I love being outside. Ok, so I love to stay inside with a good book, but that doesn’t mean I hate the sun! Not all book worms dislike outdoors, as my parents tend to think.

I feel like that is plenty of information to give someone I’ve only just met. Please feel free to tell me about what you love. Don’t worry; this is a judgment-free zone. If you like Taylor Swift or eating mayonnaise out of the jar, I won’t hold that against you!
